Blog rules
The DevQuake blog is for everything about DevQuake and its apps: how to use them, ideas, experiences and news. These rules keep it useful and safe for everyone.
Welcome
- Guides and tips for the DevQuake apps and the everyday problems they solve.
- Your experiences: how your family, household or team uses an app.
- Ideas and suggestions for the apps (the Ideas page is for votes).
- Topics close to an app: saving on bills, training plans, pet care, cooking.
Not allowed
Posts are hidden or deleted when they are one of the following. These are also the reasons you can choose when you report a post.
- Off-topic
- Not about DevQuake, its apps or their topics.
- Advertising
- Promotes another website, product or service.
- Political or religious campaigning
- Campaigns for a party, a candidate, a political or religious cause.
- Suspicious or dangerous links
- Links to phishing, malware, fake shops, or hides where a link goes (link shorteners).
- Scam or fraud
- Promises easy money, asks for payments or passwords.
- Hate or harassment
- Attacks people for who they are, insults or threatens.
- Adult or violent content
- Sexual, violent or shocking content.
- Someone else’s personal data
- Shows another person’s address, phone number, photos or other private data.
- Copyright infringement
- Copies texts or pictures without the right to use them.
- Spam or flooding
- The same post again and again, or keyword lists.
- Misleading information
- Wrong information that can harm readers.
How moderation works
- Every post is checked automatically when it is published: links to blocked or unsafe sites, link shorteners and words that are not allowed stop it until the DevQuake team decides.
- Your first post is read by the DevQuake team before it appears. After that, your posts appear right away.
- Members can report posts. After 3 reports from different members a post is hidden until the team decides.
- The team shows the post again, hides it or deletes it, and tells the author in their notifications.
- Members who break the rules can be blocked from writing (or from reporting), for a time or for good. They keep using the apps.
Links
Links to other sites in members’ posts are marked for search engines as user content (they do not pass on ranking). Posting links to promote a site is therefore pointless, and it breaks the rules.
