How DevQuake works: one account, free NPS points and apps that work together
By Lorant Alexandru Kurazs2 min read
DevQuake is one website with many small apps. This guide explains the few things that are the same everywhere, so you can get the most out of every app.
One account for everything
You sign up once on devquake.com and use the same account in every app. Each app lives at its own address, such as shopping.devquake.com or family.devquake.com, but you stay signed in across all of them.
Signing in is protected by a one-time code sent to your email, so a stolen password alone is not enough to get into your account. In your profile you choose your language (English, German, Romanian or Hungarian), your colour theme and your time zone is taken from your device, so every date and time is shown in your local time.
NPS points: how you unlock apps
Apps are unlocked with NPS points, and the points are free:
- you get points when you create your account,
- you get one more for every friend who joins through your invitation,
- and one more on your birthday, as a small gift.
Some apps cost no points at all. You can see the price of each app on the front page and in your account before you subscribe.
Try an app for a day
Not sure an app is for you? Most apps offer a free 24-hour trial that costs no points. If you decide not to subscribe, what you created during the trial is deleted after a while, so nothing is left behind.
Apps that work together
Some apps are better together. You can connect them in Account → Connected apps, for example:
- the cookbook sends recipes to the meal planner,
- the meal planner turns a week of meals into one list in shopping lists,
- pet care can give feeding and walking jobs to anyone in your family planner, children and grandparents too.
Nothing is shared between apps until you connect them, and you can disconnect them at any time.
Your ideas shape what comes next
On the Ideas page members propose new apps and improvements and vote for the ones they want. The most wanted ideas are reviewed by the team and often become the next feature. Many of the apps you see today started there.
Your data stays yours
- The apps show no ads.
- You can see your sign-in activity in your account.
- When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted with it. Contributions others rely on, such as your published blog posts, stay under an anonymous name.
The details are in the privacy policy, linked at the bottom of every page.
Writing on the blog
Every member can write on this blog: guides, tips and experiences with the apps are very welcome. Your first post is read by the team before it appears; after that your posts go live right away. Please read the blog rules before you start.
Welcome aboard!
