Fair chores, rewards and one family calendar: meet the family planner
By Lorant Alexandru Kurazs1 min read
Every family has its own version of the Sunday discussion: who empties the dishwasher, who walks the dog, who forgot the swimming lesson. The family planner puts those answers in one place, so there is less to argue about and more time for everything else.
Chores that rotate fairly
Create a chore once, choose how often it repeats, and let the planner rotate it between the children. Nobody has to remember whose turn it is, and nobody can say it is always them.
Points that turn into rewards
Every chore can be worth points. Children collect them and turn them into rewards or pocket money that you decide together: an evening of their favourite game, a trip to the cinema, or a small amount added to their savings. It is a gentle way to make effort visible.
One calendar for the whole family
School, training, music lessons, the dentist and grandma’s birthday all go into one family calendar with weekly activities. Each person sees the times in their own time zone, which helps when a parent travels or family lives abroad.
Everyone can take part
Children do not need their own email or account to be part of the family. Grandparents, babysitters and other helpers can join with an invite link, so the person picking up the children knows the plan too.
Ideas to get started
- Start with three or four chores, not twenty. Add more once the routine works.
- Agree on the rewards together with the children before the first week.
- Put recurring activities in the calendar once, with their weekly repeat, and forget about them.
The family planner works well together with pet care: once you connect the two apps, the pets’ feeding and walking jobs can go to anyone in your family.
